Direct Payments Through Adyen (eBay Updates 2018)
Announced recently, this will come into effect as a trial in North America
At the back end of 2018, with the option rolled out to most users by 2021.
eBay will be an intermediary for payments, similar to the way Amazon and other platforms work. eBay’s stock rose sharply when the news was announced, and PayPal’s dropped.
The new payment scheme will run alongside PayPal until at least 2023. There will be both advantages and disadvantages but it’s not clear yet what those will be – what will be the fee for instance?
As usual, any changes will impact first on eBay US, and some of them, for various reasons, don’t ever translate to the UK.
